In January 2005, Chinese government set up China Book International Project, which is geared to prompt foreign publishers to translate and publish China-related books by subsidizing their translation, and to grand China-related books to overseas libraries. In 2005, China has signed agreements with more than 10 publication organizations from UK, France, Japan, USA, Australia and Sigapore, which provide a subsidy of more than 3 million RMB in publishing 179 titles. By the end of 2005, in total 103 titles have been issued, and over 100 subsidy projects are under way. |
