本书是致力于词典学理论和实践的发展新趋势——以各种形式描述语汇的论文集。所有的论文基本分为两部分：一、词典中词语的跨文化的系统关系，提出了文化问题，以及普通用途和特殊用途词汇的用法，重点集中在成语等；二、专业词典编纂。

【作者介绍】
Olga Karpova, Doctor of Philology, Head of English Department, Ivanovo State University, member of EURALEX (with 2 Verbatim Awards 1993, 1997); Historical Lexicography Society (UK); Russian Association of Applied Linguistics, National Association for the Teachers of English Russia. She defended two dissertations on English Writers Dictionaries (1978) and Shakespeare lexicography (1991) at Leningrad State University, worked in lexicographic centers in England (grant from the British Academy) and Norway (Norwegian Research Council); has Eugen Wüster Special Award (UNESCO).
Faina Kartashkova, Doctor of Philology, Professor of English Department, Ivanovo State University, a member of International Association of Cognitive Research. She defended two dissertations on Functioning of Synsemantic Nouns in the Text (Leningrad State University, 1980) and Indirect Nomination in English Speech (St. Petersburg State University, 2001).
